“A life constantly tormented by mental disorders is a life no one should have, and it is even more unfortunate if it is the life of a great artist.”

Anxiety, depression, distress, solitude, and isolation - these are all sorts of emotions one goes through when experiencing pressure. Especially the people who major in creative fields, in which they seem to be suffering more mental issues than their other peers. It is not just dependent on passion and mental health that these people are aware of but the validation itself - especially when there is no measurement of success towards an art piece.

And so Bong Hoa Nho (The Little Flower) was created. The project takes pride in showcasing issues regarding mental health as well as the difficulties which our 20 artists endured through an online exhibition platform Gather. The artists invited channeled passion, inner conscience, difficulties, and hope through the form of art they desired.

Concept

Pixel Flowers is the concept of the first season of Bong Hoa Nho exhibition. This is an online exhibition on a digital platform. It is designed to display the illusions of judgments, where these illusions run after the ephemeral things, and unwittingly lose themselves. An exhibition aims to give viewers a profound insight into the negative effects of judgments, negative thoughts that we impose on ourselves, and how they affect our lives.

By displaying their artwork, the artists hope to create a space where individuals can feel seen and heard, especially those who may be struggling with their mental health. Through Bong Hoa Nho, the artists aim to break the stigma surrounding mental health struggles and promote a culture of empathy and understanding.

It is a beautiful reminder that we are not alone in our struggles and that there is hope for healing and growth.
